امّا استفاده از این مزیّت، با هزینه‌هایی نیز همراه خواهد بود. فرآیند شیمیایی که باعث شکل‌گیری استحکام شیشه گوریلا میشود، بسیار گران‌تر از تولید شیشه با سودا (سدیم کربنات) است. بنابراین پیدا کردن یک روش تولید که در آن خودروسازان هم بتواند از مزیت‌های شیشه گوریلا بهره‌مند شود و هم شرایط استاندارد موردنیاز آنها برآورده شود، و در عین حال، هزینه زیادی برای آنها نداشته باشد، بسیار کلیدی خواهد بود. همان‌طور که انتظار می‌رود، آزمایش‌ها در مورد ترکیبات هیبرید در حال انجام است.
