یک راننده همیشه آرزو دارد در سفرها، هیچ‌گاه شاید روشن شدن چراغهای اضافی نباشد! این چراغ‌ها که در صفحه پشت آمپر ظاهر می‌شود، هرکدام نشان از یک عارضه در خودرو دارند. علاوه بر چراغهای کمربند و لامپ‌ها، سایر چراغ‌ها نگران‌کننده هستند.
اما شاید از همه دلهره‌آورتر چراغ بنزین باشد و برای افرادی که حوصله مراجعه منظم به پمپ‌بنزین را ندارند، شاید تا مراجعه و انجام سوخت‌گیری، چالش این‌که هرلحظه ممکن است بنزین تمام شود دائماً ذهن راننده را خسته کند.
حال اگر بخواهیم بررسی کنیم که خودروها از ابتدای روشن شدن چراغ چه میزان پیمایش دارند، می‌توانیم این دلهره را کاهش دهیم.
اگر بخواهیم یک استاندارد کلی در مورد زمان روشن شدن چراغ به دست بیاوریم، می‌توانیم به استانداردهای ارائه‌شده بین‌المللی اشاره‌کنیم. بر اساس بررسی بیش از ۴۰ خودرو و محاسبه میزان باقی‌مانده بنزین در باک آن‌ها، مشخص شد متوسط بنزین باقی‌مانده در باک خودروهای خارجی به‌صورت متوسط ۲.۶ گالن است. اگر بخواهیم این عدد را به لیتر تبدیل کنیم، می‌بایست آن را در ۳.۷۸ ضرب کنیم که شاهد عددی در حدود ۹.۸ لیتر خواهیم بود.
اگر در باک خودرو شما ۹.۸ لیتر بنزین باقی‌مانده باشد، می‌بایست مصرف سوخت خودروتان را با آن بررسی کنید. در زیر به بررسی ۴ خودرو متفاوت می‌پردازیم. البته می‌بایست به‌صورت پیش‌فرض استفاده از خودرو را در حالت رانندگی بدون ترافیک در نظر بگیریم.
پراید: این خودرو به دلیل مصرف حدود ۶.۵ در مصارف شهری و شرایط بدون ترافیک می‌تواند با بنزین باقی‌مانده از لحظه روشن شدن چراغ، در حدود ۱۳۰ کیلومتر را بپیماید.
پژو ۲۰۶: مهمان قدیمی ایران خودرو که حدوداً ۱۶ سال است در این شرکت تولید می‌شود، با متوسط مصرف ۸.۹ در مصارف شهری، از لحظه روشن شدن چراغ بنزین می‌تواند در حدود ۱۰۹ کیلومتر را بپیماید.
رنو کولئوس: این محصول رنو که جدیداً با ظاهری بسیار زیبا و فاخر به بازار آمده است، با مصرف ۱۱.۸ در شهر، می‌تواند از لحظه روشن شدن چراغ، در حدود ۸۰ الی ۸۵ کیلومتر را بپیماید.
سوزوکی ویتارا: این شاسی‌بلند ژاپنی خوش آوازه می‌تواند با مصرف ۱۲.۵ لیتر در هر ۱۰۰ کیلومتر، حدود ۸۰ کیلومتر را بپیماید.
