تاراباکوس ملو(نیویورک تایمز) مهندسان صنایع خودروسازی پس از سالها تلاش برای کاستن از خسارات جانی و صدمات ناشی از تصادف اتومبیل اکنون به این نتیجه رسیده اند که بهتر است به آنچه در لحظات پیش از تصادف اتفاق می افتد، توجه کنند.
سیســـتم های کنترل پایداری در سالهای اخیر قابلیت بیشتری برای توقف سریع خودرو و جلوگیری از تصادف پیدا کرده اند و اکنون می توان ترمزها را به نحوی برنامه ریزی کرد که توقف های شتابزده را تشخیص دهند و در مواردی که راننده به اشتباه فشار اندکی روی ترمز وارد می آورد، خودشان حداکثر نیرو را اعمال کنند.
سیستم فرمان فعال بی .ام.و. حرکات عصبی راننده را در مانورهای اضطراری تشخیص می دهد و اینفینیتی نیز سیستمی را ارائه داده که در مورد کشیده شدن اتومبیل به خط عبور مجاور و احتمال برخورد به راننده هشدار می دهد.
تعدادی از اتومبیل های لوکس به سیستم هایی مجهز شده اند که به محض احساس خطر تصادف توسط حس گرهای تعبیه شده در خودرو، کمربندهای ایمنی محکم می شوند و شیشه ها و دریچه آفتابگیر سقف نیز بسته می شوند.
خودروسازها در حال طراحی رایانه هایی هستند که تشخیص می دهند راننده چقدر حواسش جمع است و بر این اساس تصمیم می گیرند که با چه سرعتی وارد عمل شوند.
یک نمونه از فناوری های تازه در جهت ایمنی خودرو، ترمزی است که وقتی احتمال وقوع تصادف را احساس می کند، خود به خود وارد عمل می شود.
این سیستم های پیشگیری از تصادف، از رایانه هایی بهره می برند که قبلاً در ابزارهای کنترل اتومبیل مانند ترمزهای ضد قفل و محکم کننده کمربند ایمنی در لحظه تصادف مورد استفاده قرار می گرفتند.
وجه مشترک همه سیستم های پیشگیری از تصادف، فناوری پیشرفته ای است که سیستم کنترل سرعت بهینه انطباقی نام دارد. کنترل سرعت انطباقی بر خلاف سیستم های رایج کنترل سرعت که فقط برای حفظ یک سرعت پیوسته طراحی شده اند، می تواند فاصله مناسب از اتومبیل جلو را نیز حفظ کند.
سرعت اتومبیل با توجه به اندازه هایی که یک دستگاه لیزر یا رادار برآورد می کند، بالا یا پایین می رود.
سیستم های ایمنی پیشگیری از تصادف با بهره گیری از فناوری کنترل سرعت بهینه انطباقی از حس گرهایی استفاده می کنند که اتومبیل ها یا اشیاء فاقد حرکتی را که در مسیر خودرو قرار دارند، نشان دهند و پیوسته احتمال تصادف را برآورد کنند.
مرسدس بنز اولین تولیدکننده خودرویی بود که یک سیستم ایمنی پیشگیری را در ایالات متحده به نمایش گذاشت. در سال ۲۰۰۳ سواری های مرسدس بنز کلاسS به سیستمی مجهز شدند که pre Safe نامیده می شد.
این سیستم در زمان در یک هزارم ثانیه پیش از تصادف به کار می افتاد و هر قسمت از کمربند ایمنی را که شل شده بود، سفت می کرد، دریچه آفتابگیر سقف را می بست، صندلی را به شکلی تنظیم می کرد که سرنشین در ایمن ترین موقعیت قرار بگیرد.
نسل بعدی سیستم مرسدس کارکردهای بیشتری پیدا کرده است. شیشه های جانبی را می بندد و در لحظه ای که راننده پدال ترمز را فشار می دهد، چنانچه نیروی کافی برای اجتناب از برخورد را به آن وارد نیاورد، تمام نیروی ترمز را اعمال می کند. این سیستم جزو تجهیزات استاندارد مدل ۲۰۰۷ کلاس S است که در ماه فوریه ۲۰۰۶ (بهمن ۸۴) به بازار آمده است.
سیستم پیـــــش از تصادف لکسوس نیز تا حد زیادی به همین شیوه عمل می کند. هنگامی که تصادف قریب الوقوع را احساس می کند، کمربندهای ایمنی را محکم می کند و بلافاصله تمام نیروی ترمز را فراهم می آورد.
این سیستم در لکسوس های مدل LS و GS جزو امکانات اختیاری خریدار است.اینفینیتی دو سیستم ایــــمنی پیشگیری از تصادف را در تعدادی از خودروهایش عرضه کرده است. کمربندهای ایمنی pre Crashکه قبل از تصادف محکم می شوند، بخشی از تجهیزات استاندارد سواری های اینفینیتی سری M و سری Q هستند.
سیستم پیش ترمز که از حسگرهای کنترل سرعت بهینه برای تشخیص احتمال تصادف استفاده می کند و حداکثر نیروی لازم برای توقف را تأمین می کند، جزو تجهیزات اختیاری مدل های M، Q و FX است.سیستم آکورا تنها سیستمی است که به صورت خودکار و بدون دخالت راننده عمل می کند.
یکی از امکانات اختیاری آکورا RL۲۰۰۶ سیستمی است که از یک دستگاه رادار تعبیه شده در جلو پنجره استفاده می کند که پیوسته سرعت نزدیک شدن به خودرو جلویی که تا فاصله ۳۰۰ فوت(۱۰۰متر) از اتومبیل قرار دارد را نشان می دهد. هنگامی که حسگر احتمال وقوع تصادف را نشان دهد، تجهیزات الکترونیکی وارد یک فرآیند سه مرحله ای می شوند.
در مرحله اول یک چراغ خطر که زیرنمایشگر سرعت قرار گرفته با علامت ترمز روی داشبورد چشمک می زند و سیستم صوتی زنگ هشداری را به صدا درمی آورد. اگر فاصله بین دو خودرو بیشتر نشود، سیستم وارد دومین مرحله می گردد و نیروی اندکی به ترمز ها وارد می آورد و کمربندهای ایمنی به آرامی کشیده می شوند.
اگر این نیز برای جلوگیری از تصادف کافی نباشد، در مرحله سوم کمربندهای جلو به شدت کشیده می شوند و ترمز محکمی سرعت اتومبیل را کم می کند. البته نیروی وارد بر ترمز برای توقف کامل نیست، بلکه در حدود ۷۵ درصد ظرفیت ترمز اتومبیل بر آن اعمال می شود.
به گفته ویلیام والتون، طراح تولید آکورا، شرکت سازنده خودرو از شرکت های بیمه درخواست کرده است که با توجه به وجود این سیستم درخودرو، در مبلغ حق بیمه دارندگان آکورا RL تخفیف قائل شوند.
با این سیستم ایمنی پیشگیری از تصادف در حال حاضر فقط در تعداد اندکی از خودروها تعبیه شده است، ولی انتظار می رود که به زودی رواج بیشتری پیدا کند. مایک تونی، یکی از مهندسان شرکت دلفی می گوید شرکت او در همکاری با تعدادی از شرکت های خودروسازی در حال کار بر روی سیستم های جدیدی است،
از جمله سیستم هایی که از دوربین برای تشخیص اشیاء متحرک از ثابت استفاده می کند.
به گفته آقای تونی، تا پایان این دهه سیستم های ایمنی پیشگیری قادر خواهند بود راننده را زیر نظر بگیرند و با توجه به میزان هوشیاری او واکنش نشان دهند و اگر راننده به جاده نگاه نکند، به او هشدار بدهند.لکسوس نمونه ای از این فناوری را ماه اکتبر (مهر) در نمایشگاه توکیو به نمایش گذاشته است.
آقای تونی می گوید: این فناوری اکنون آماده شده و در اختیار ما قرار گرفته است. مسئله فقط این است که بتوانیم آن را با اتومبیل ادغام کنیم.
